about taïker — subang jaya

an excuse to
sit down.

taïker is the café and shop Bean Doe built inside its own roastery — a place to drink good coffee, eat something sweet, and stay a while. The beans are made next door; we just pour them well.

no.01 — the idea

why talker?

The name says it best. taïker — talker — because coffee was always an excuse to sit down and talk. A cup is the reason; the conversation is the point.

So we built a room around that idea: order the signature cup, pull up a stool, and stay past the last sip. Nobody's rushing you out.

no.02 — the room

a café in
the roastery.

We didn't want a café down the road from where the coffee is made. We wanted to be in it — so the taïker counter sits right inside Bean Doe's Subang Jaya roastery.

One side is the café: the signature drinks, the cake case, a place to sit. The other is the shop: beans and chocolate to take home, boxed metres from where they were roasted. Come by and you'll probably meet the person who bagged them.

no.03 — on the counter

coffee, and
something sweet.

The counter's coffee first — a clean shot of espresso, pulled to order — but it's the bright ones that turn heads: an iced strawberry matcha, layered green over fruit and milk, made to look as good as it drinks.

And there's always something from the cake case beside it. Lately that's a wedge of strawberry basque cheesecake — burnt-topped and barely set — the kind of sweet that keeps you at the counter a little longer.

no.04 — one year in

taïker
turns one.

A year ago we set a few stools beside the roastery, pulled the first shot, and hoped someone would sit down long enough to talk. You did — and you kept coming back.

Twelve months, a good many conversations and more Kopi Rendang than we can count later, the counter still runs on the idea it opened on: the cup is only the excuse; the time you spend here is the point.

Thank you for the first year. Here's to sitting a while longer.
